[STAVROS THE GREAT : STARRING IN A BALKAN CARTOON]

Will admit that I'm not into the whole gross-out humour, but I can't deny that this was really well animated.

Really captures the Ren & Stimpy vibes.

Eh...I guess it's alright. Feels like I've heard these jokes a thousand times in the 2000s.

The art is nice though.

I'd say just keep studying the way comedy is done in everything (cartoons, movies, comedy skits, or even stand-up comedians to name a few). Little things like good timing, or even how something is said can make a joke 10 times funnier. Perfect example is the Rabbit Season, Duck Season Looney-Tunes shorts.

I can see some kind of potential if you're willing to do the research, but for now it just the same old Flash era parody videos of old.

[Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in: All's Well That Ends Well!]

Pretty cool Oswald cartoon, it's got all the Oswald staples.

My only complaint is that some of the animation is a little stiff, and even if Oswald cartoons didn't have sound back in the day, adding just a little bit of background music helps-out a ton.

Keep-on animating my dude, I know you can do great things with just a little practice!

You know, I've got this suspicious feeling about this little AI companion that NOX is hanging out with recently.

Feels like it could be a bad influence of some kind.

Honestly really curious how the final product is gonna look like. Given that the modding community has already cranked this game up to 20.

Still, the heart and soul could make a big difference if pulled-off right.

Can't wait to see what you guys have been cooking-up all these years.

[NECRO-NANCY 64: Spooky House]

Is it bad that I think this animation is just OK?

The parts where there was actual animation was pretty good. It really captures the old 5th gen era look for the most part. Love how expressive every character is, and a lot of it is done through clever texture work which is a neat era-accurate detail. Also love just the simple yet effective movements of each characters.

My biggest gripe with this was that it mostly felt like I was watching a no commentary longplay of a walking sim. There's so much dead air that could have been filled with neat little animation bits. I know you're trying to imitate a game with these sections, but even for a game it looks boring. If you're going to imitate a game the least you could do is imitate Resident Evil. The fixed cameras would have made these walking section a little more interesting to look at, and would have fit the 5th gen look way better than an fps.

Speaking of: the inconsistencies in this bothered the heck out of me. You have a game that imitates the N64 with PC mouse controls and Dreamcast disc-drive loading screens. I know these details mean nothing in the end, but people that can't make-up their mind bother me.

Finally, I just thought the dialogue was OK. Not great, but enough for me to tolerate it. Most of the characters don't really have enough "emotion" in their lines. Really the only ones that come close to sounding natural are Spooky and Skeeter. The rest sound bad, not 90s overly hammy bad, just plain stiff. I can practically see the actors reading the script

Overall, I can't dock too many points off if it because it's still well made and has a lot of effort poured into it, but boy, for something that's got so many awards under its belt, it felt underwhelming as hell to watch.

[Sketch Collab 2023]

Why do I get the feeling I was the only one who animated on ones again...

Glad to be part of this collab again, even if mine was left incomplete. It was either finishing this, or all the gifts I made December, it was a tough choice.

It's also funny looking at the coincidental theming of each collab. Last year was filled with guns, and this year it seems to be filled with a bunch of explosions. Funny how things go sometimes.

Also interesting was the amount of newbie animators joining the collab, and not reading the ru- I mean, getting a bunch of eyes on their work in front of a wide audience. That alone might give them a bit of a head start.

Unfortunately, I might not be joining next year if there is one. Gotta focus on getting more efficient with my animation skills since I take forever to finish my animations due to me being extremely rusty.

Overall, fun little collab, fun people...usually, and fun watch.
