I want to give you tips on how to draw backgrounds, but I don't know how to explain it. I just watched Bob Ross, took a bunch of photos of trees and landscapes to study them, and drew a bunch of trees 'cause they're a pain to draw properly.

Hope there's something there to help you.

MachiToons responds:

the thing is i believe i know the technique, but simply lack the practice. all my time has been primarily focused on character art so I neglected backgrounds

Holy crap! All this in one day?! That's amazing!

MachiToons responds:

few hours, yea

I can relate to that. Spent last year doing nothing but drawing, and now this year it feels like I'm doing everything but drawing. It feels so aggravating sometimes because I just want to go back to drawing full-time.

Oddlem responds:

SAME OMG, it's such a crappy feeling
I'm very happy there's someone who can relate!!! I fricken miss drawing, and I hope you get more time to be able to draw more!!

My god, the first image is both gorgeous and horrifying to look at...how is that even possible?!

Also that one with the bed feels a little too relatable...same with the cockroach one...good times...

Edit: Fortunately no, but there's someone I know who's beds are constantly full of sand whenever I sleep at their place. I hate it.

sinnykitt responds:

Ahaha thank you so much!! I always saw gore as an aesthetic sort of, like roses or vaporwave X)
Please don't tell you actually know someone who sleeps with shoes on..

Is their spine hanging out, or is that just sports tape?

funktoonmix responds:

thats sports tape, his waist is just super thin and noodley lol

Firstly, you use MS Paint?!

Secondly, from what I remember from my time using MS Paint ages ago, things can only be rotated using the selector tool, but it's only 90 degree rotations.

A quick workaround I used was by writing things in in Word or Powerpoint, taking a screenshot using sniping tools, and pasting the screenshot with the transparency option* enabled in the drop down menu for the selection tool.

*The "transparency" option in MS Paint works by taking anything that matches the secondary colour and turns it transparent. Great if you're moving a bunch of small things on a solid colour canvas, not sure how it acts with more detailed works.

Alternatively, you can install Paint.net, Gimp, or Krita and have that ability and much more. Paint.net is my go to if you're a MS Paint "veteran". I know I used it a ton before moving on to Gimp and Krita. It's like MS Paint, but...more.

Tamag0 responds:

:0! i meant that as a joke(i actually use firealpaca) but wowee, thanks for the advice WWWW

Your perspective is excellent already, but if need ideas on how to improve: use a camera, do the pose yourself, and place a couple lines on the floor to help with angles and perspectives.

You don't need much to make these lines on the floor either, I just use a yoga mat, but something like string, tape, or even some measuring tape will do the trick.

sinnykitt responds:

Ahaha thank you so much! There are handy apps like magic poser that can do all the work for you tho X)

Your artwork made me discover a part of Newgrounds I didn't know existed, and immediately fell in love with it.

Aramisp responds:

that's what this is all about!! i'm really happy you found out about bunny kill, it's really close to my heart

Ah yes, this is exactly what I've learned in biology class. Give and take a few liberties.
