Alright, time's up! No more fun computer time, it's back to the digital canvas for me.
Working as a "full-time" artist again has me both missing it, and loathing it a lot. It's a lot of hard work just to keep-up with a schedule, doesn't help that I keep 1up-ing myself every year, and working around other people's plans can be anxiety inducing (The increasing power-outages don't help either).
Still, despite the high stress, the reward more than makes up for it in the end. Don't worry though, I don't crunch unless I absolutely need to, and I take a well deserved break afterwards.
I may be bad at managing my time, but I'm not stupid with my health when it comes to crunching.
Anyways, here's this month's comic
Takeover Tuesday
In other news: Newgrounds introduced the Takeover Tuesday event a while ago. I honestly still don't know what to think about it. At best it shows-off a bunch of obscure stuff I never knew about, and at worst it's basically "P-bot 2.0", or a pop-up ad that advertises the popular stuff more than it needs to. In general, even if I enjoy the hidden gems, the whole event discourages me from posting my projects on Tuesday because nearly everyone's focus is on that Takeover Tuesday and not their feeds. It also annoys me when a group project gets mass voted on Takeover Tuesday by a bunch of members of that projects. It feels like a cheap and annoying advertisements that's "pay-to-win" because you need to pay the supporter badge just to participate, and the big "hot item" pop-up only makes it worse.
TLDR; I have a love-hate relationship with it
Playlist update
Playlists for supporter members are now double the size! I like this change already. No more frequent daisy-chaining playlists together just to extend the length of it. I'm planning on cleaning-up my super long playlist, so that it's not 4 playlists long anymore.
Conclusion
This update was kinda minimal, but I know next month will be the opposite of that. Pray that I won't freaking die from all the work I need to do in order to meet that Christmas deadline. At the very least I was smart enough to start all of it in October just like last year. The only difference is that I'm working on comics instead the Secret Santa.
I'm gonna tone it down a bunch next year I promise. Might even prioritize these holiday events way earlier too just so I don't get overly stressed-out during the holidays every year. Though, I'll probably go back into another hiatus next year too depending on how things turn out. A lot of non-art related things are calling for me, and the sad part is that they give me more money than my art, so those are a higher priority.
Just be happy that I still care enough to do art when I feel like it, and that I continue these monthly updates. I won't be going away for good anytime soon because I love this too much. It's just my output will be extremely minimal at points
That's all for me this month
See you next post!
