So if you haven't noticed so far with my year-long drawing challenge, I've been doing nothing but hands and trees, and not my usually character poses. There's a reason for that. I've just been really busy with not one, but two side projects! My milestone drawing, and the Secret Santa drawing. Not only that, but I'm also super busy during the holidays, and I need to draw everyday during that to keep-up with the challenge.

I'll be super dead by the end of it, and it will show in my drawings, but I want to do my best to make up for all those boring drawings afterwards by trying to do more colour drawings during my final days of the challenge (Jan 1st-Feb13th).

Hope you understand. It will be for the better.

Hello there, I'm Anthony! Or Nothany if you go by my username.

I'm a self-taught artist that's still learning how to draw, and I decided to do the masochistic thing of learning how to draw from scratch while drawing everyday for a year straight! No day off! No holiday break! No excuses! Just draw for a year straight!

I've started posting this challenge on Twitter, but found no luck, so I moved here by around Day 250.

[Can't say I didn't try...though, it was a huge pain to move around 250 drawings here]

The rules are simple:

•NO TRACING!!!

[I'm learning, not cheating]

•Draw an acceptable drawing everyday

[Don't do a line and/or circle and call it a day...a smiley face is perfectly OK though]

•Pencils down by 7AM PST*

[I often sleep past midnight, and I was usually never awake at 7AM]

•No fancy tricks for digital drawings

[using layers and moving a drawing around is fine. Resizing, rotating, flipping, and moving small chunks of a drawing are not. Copy/pasting is a gray area and should be used sparingly]

*Time extensions can be made if the drawing program crashes, or locks-up for a while. If I lose an hour because of a crash, I will extend the time by an hour.

So far it's been a fun bumpy ride as I gradually become a better artist, and criticism is always welcome! [I NEED IT!]

You can find all of my drawings I've done in chronological order through my playlists (365 Days of Nothany). Going back through some of my older drawings can be both interesting, and cringe-worthy. And because I left notes behind on almost all my drawings it can be an interesting read too.

I keep most of my art here is private, but I make almost all my full colour pieces public. I do this because I don't want to clog the Art portal with line-art or rough sketches that have a bunch of notes on them.

Dear god, why didn't I come here sooner. This was such a pain to do, but I only have myself to blame for doing a drawing everyday...at least all my drawings for my one year challenge is now in order through the playlists.

Now that that's all done, expect me to be a bit more active on this website. Been wanting to chit-chat with a few artists here, but couldn't because I was spending the entire time trying to upload 20-30 images a day here.

...but before I do that, I need to go to sleep...I just need it right now...so many pictures...never again...

Almost done uploading my somewhat huge backlog of images! There's probably around 100 left, but it might be less than that. I'm out of my paper backlog and into the digital stuff. The good news is my art now looks decent on these older days, the bad news is that they're not grouped together like the paper days, so it'll be a bit longer for me to upload them all.

After which I'll start being more active on this website instead of spending an hour uploading my backlog one-by-one.

I've posted up to Day 60 of my challenge now. It's still not caught-up with where I am currently on the challenge (Day 254 as of writing), but posting about 10-20 drawings in my backlog everyday should get me caught-up pretty soon.

I had to stop writing little descriptions of these drawings so I could speed things-up, but I do plan on returning to these when I'm bored or after I'm done this year-long challenge. I just find it cool to reflect on how I used to draw and compare it to how I draw now, along with telling a few little stories I had while doing some of these drawings.

I've also noticed that some of my hand-written notes on these older drawings are really hard to read, so I might need to remaster some of these old drawings at some point to replace the handwriting with text (along with fixing some of my typos), as well as lightly re-drawing some of the art to make it more visible (scanners can only do so much).

As always most of my old art, and anything that's just line-art on my new drawings I don't find them worthy for the Art portal. With the exception of one old drawing, anything I do in colour will be tweaked to have the notes removed and posted to the Art portal. This gives me an excuse to practice colouring and shading, and doesn't clutter the Art portal with drawings littered with notes on them.

Hope this informs someone out there (I don't even know how people see this), I'm glad if you like the art I've done, and ANY constructive criticism is definitely welcome.

Just started uploading my early days of the challenge (don't look, they're ugly). Stopped at Day 4, but I'm currently at Day 250...this will probably take a good while to catch-up to my current progress.

What I'll be doing is uploading my current Day for my Daily Drawing challenge, as well as a few of my older days everyday in order to catch-up. It will be confusing to look at my art section, but I've made a playlist that organizes things in the proper order.

This whole news feed thing isn't working-out as well as I'd plan, but now that I'm comfortable with the site I'll try something different:

All my finalized pieces will be posted in the art portal, while all my daily stuff will be kept outside of it and be saved in a playlist in chronological order.

So remember when I said that my hand tutorial was a little too hard to pull-off yesterday...yeah this is why.

This is pretty much all my research I've done on hands in a nice updated package, and all I did to find this info was to look at my hands and analyze every detail for probably a little too long.

My research is freaking ludicrous sometimes.

here's a high quality version of my reference pic. These types of hand gestures I take are great for practising how to draw hands due to how weird the finger placement is.

...Even I had issues trying to draw this one properly.

Was planning on updating my hand tutorial, but it required a lot more work than I thought, and I'm just tired. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow...No promises.

Time to stop being lazy and go back to my old routine before my mind has a chance to make-up its mind, and lock me in a state of drowsiness for a couple days.

For anyone wondering what this is, I've made a challenge for myself to draw everyday for one year without ANY breaks after being inspired by Telepurte's year-long animation challenge.

For anyone wondering where Days 1-245 are, they're still on my Twitter at the moment (@NothanyTPM). I'll be trying to bundle my whole collection so far somewhere here, and after this challenge is done I'll even include a sort of post-commentary for each day during the entire year.
